Our owners, investors, team members, and guests enjoy the beautiful people and natural resources of the Bahamas. At Sterling Global and Hurricane Hole, we believe that we have an obligation to use our privilege and position to make a positive impact on the environment and society. We have partnered with Lend A Hand Bahamas, The Bahamas National Trust and the Bahamas Feeding Network.
Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina’s expansive booth was a popular destination in the Superyacht Pavilion, drawing serious attention from prospective buyers, yacht brokers and even a visit from the Bahamian Deputy Prime Minister of Tourism. In addition to finalizing a few sales contracts, a highlight of the five-day show was an exclusive VIP party Hurricane Hole co-hosted with Worth Avenue Yachts onboard She’s a 10, a spectacular 164 foot luxury charter yacht.
The spectacular transformation and expansion of Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina, scheduled to welcome yachts for the 2022 winter yachting season, celebrated another major construction milestone with the installation of 2,580 feet of deep-water floating docks.
Stretching almost half a mile along the marina’s promenade, the 10’ x10’ deep-water floating docks, custom manufactured in Jacksonville by Bellingham Marine, are designed and built to handle tidal changes and provide optimal flexibility for superyachts, sportfishing boats and smaller craft by adjusting to water levels and providing consistent access to vessels. During hurricanes, the flexibility of floating docks reduces the likelihood of damage, compared to the storm-related vulnerability of stationary docks.
“Building a marina involves many factors broadly related to water levels, safety, access and the environment,” said David Kosoy, Executive Chairman & Founder of Sterling Global Financial, the project’s developer, manager and owner. “These crucial considerations came into play as we worked with Bellingham, other local partners, and the Bahamian Government on creating the ideal components for Hurricane Hole.”
Deep Water and Ease of Navigation
The Bahamas-based construction team skillfully dredged the basin to a depth of 14.5 feet from average low tide, making it one of the deepest marinas in the Caribbean. The redesigned marina will also feature a 240-foot-wide turning basin, ideal for navigating larger superyachts.
Bigger and Deeper Haven for Superyachts
By carefully removing the marina’s original barrier sea wall, crews were able to dredge inland and dramatically extend the marina’s circumference to more than 6,100 linear feet. Outfitted to the highest standards in quality and design, the totally rebuilt Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina at Paradise Landing features docks up to 420 feet. Specifically engineered metal and concrete sea walls have been installed to eliminate currents and reduce wave action and potential storm surge.
“We expect it will not take long for Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina to become the most desirable berth in the Caribbean,” said Philip Robinson, Vice President of Development at Sterling Global Financial. “On the water and on land, this marina and village are built to the highest standards of comfort, convenience and safety.”
Upgrades to the Power Infrastructure
Working with Bahamas Power & Light, the marina’s developers made a substantial investment to upgrade the power infrastructure. Clean, reliable 400-amp, 480-volt power will be readily available for yachts, residences and commercial properties at Paradise Landing.

Less than three years after Sterling Global Ltd broke ground on the Paradise Landing project centered around a plan to create the most exclusive superyacht marina in the region, company executives led Tourism officials and media on a site tour today as the development neared completion of Phase 1.

Among those in attendance were Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation and Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper, Director General of Tourism Joy Jibrilu, Tourism Parliamentary Secretary John W Pinder, Permanent Secretary Reginald Saunders, Sterling executives, construction partners including Island Site Development and members of nearly every media house serving The Bahamas.
He applauded developers for the pace they maintained.
“I think it is noteworthy that during a difficult pandemic when almost everything stopped in the country, this project continued and we are almost at a stage where we will soon see megayachts come in,” he said. Sterling Advisory Services President Khaalis Rolle quickly reminded the minister that the marina was built to handle superyachts.
Cooper continued to praise the design, vision and progress.
“This is the type of investment we want to see more and more of in our country,” said the minister. “I want you to know that our government is very business friendly, very investment focused. It is not just the employment but the spinoffs that residential and other parts of this project will generate. I was quite impressed by what I saw here today.”
Rolle shared the vision.
“What you are seeing today is the promise we made coming to life, the twin buildings of Sterling Commons with residences, professional office space and retail, and the completion of the infrastructure that will become the premiere superyacht marina in the region,” said Khaalis Rolle, President, Sterling Advisory Services. “Thanks to our construction partners including ISD and to all the hard-working Bahamians who contributed to this effort, we kept that promise. We promised jobs and we delivered jobs with as many as 150 men and women a day. Some days there were 300 people on site. We promised Bahamian sourcing and we delivered. We are honoured that the Minister of Tourism and his colleagues are here to see our progress and our promise.”
The expansion, created from underused upland, doubled the size of the iconic marina without extending its footprint into Nassau harbour.
When completed, the marina will include 6,100 linear feet of berthing space, 14.5’ depth, floating and fixed docks with wide finger piers, a 240’ turning basin and concrete docks up to 420 feet in length to accommodate the world’s most luxurious yachts.
Residents, yacht owners and guests will have access to onsite restaurants, a gourmet grocery store, liquor store, hair salon, office space, a medical clinic, pharmacy, swimming pools, private meeting spaces, 24-hour security and onsite concierge services.
The largest retail space in Sterling Commons West has been taken by 700 Wines and Spirits and will become its flagship store, complete with a fine wine collection, wine bar and courtyard gathering space.
Paradise Landing consists of two, 3-story Sterling Commons buildings, a 2-story harbourmaster’s office that with crew lounge facilities and other amenities, a standalone grocery store surrounding the transformed marina. Commercial space at Paradise Landing is 92% leased. The first phase of condominiums is sold out. Sterling has begun taking reservations for the second phase of luxury marina residences which will be launched in the coming weeks. The developer is reporting high demand for the limited dock slips available.
